Of course it's too early to tell, but speculation is the name of the game at this point.
First off, Andrew Luck gave up a lot of zeros to remain at Stanford. Will 99.9% of America think he's crazy...absolutely. Will he be better off for it? Who knows.
Matt Lienart loved being the BMOC...ballroom dancing classes and all, and he landed in what appeared to be a great situation in Arizona. Unfortunately, this didn't lead anywhere except a backup role with both the Cardinals and Texans.
Peyton Manning stayed in college an extra year and landed in what appeared to be a horrible situation with the moribund Colts. His history turned out pretty well though.
Luck seems to have a solid head on his shoulders and his family (like Manning's) is not in need of the money right now (Dad is the AD at West Virginia). His Dad says that Andrew is 'old school' in that he went to college to get a degree. All I can say is good for him.
(Oh yeah, his family will be taking out a HUGE insurance policy in the next couple days to protect their investment.)
Even if he did forgo a LOT of money, he's doing for reasons he thinks are worthy. I commend him for making this difficult decision, even if it's contrary to what everyone was thinking he'd do.
